Encounters with Yahweh, as recounted in the Hebrew Bible: As
I recall, they are rarely if ever sought for. No one looks for or desires them.
They are inflicted on you, whether it be Jonah and the whale, Moses and the
burning bush, or, at the very beginning, God himself, from whom they are
hiding, addressing Adam and Eve, in the Garden.
Yes, yes, there is in the Hebrew Bible plenty about love of
God. Much more about fearing Him. I would say love is a function of fear in
this context, love, praise, respect etc.
There's nothing I recall in the Hebrew Bible about a longing
to contact or be one with him.
That sort of nonsense came later.
In the Hebrew Bible, God was exactly everything you wanted
to avoid.
