As of today, the Dark Riders have been seen issuing out of Mordor. The
shadow falls. Here they come in formation, behind Trump, chief of the Ringwraiths,
though the others chafe at each other, all at the behest of the Dark Lord.
By this time in the story, Sauron has no beautiful body or seductive
voice. He's a sleepless EYE, who sees most, though not quite all, of everything.
Sleeplessness, his condition, is no fun, even for him.
He goes crazier all the time.
He's the NSA, the Gestapo, the KGB, renditions.
Gandalf knows the power of the One Ring, and has enjoined
Frodo to, "Keep it hidden. Keep it safe."
Gandalf was a liberal.
No One Ring for him. He refused it.
If there ever was such a thing as a One Ring, Gandalf directs
us to destroy it at point of origin, Mt. Doom — melt it, get over it, and move
on.
